Barry Margolis also writes that the Halo gospel label was a Gospel subsidiary of this group.

The One-derful group of labels was formed in Chicago in late 1962 by George Leaner. Eventually he added the two subsidiaries. Like many of the artists on his roster, Leaner was born in the south (Mississippi), and the music produced by the labels reflected a southern influence, more so than other Chicago labels of the time which were often more uptown oriented. There were of course local Chicago influences too, and to me the unique sounds produced by the labels (mostly recorded at their own studios), were just like the label names say - One-derful, Mar-V-Lus and M-pac! (?).

The group of labels folded in 1968. Some of the artists on its roster found their way to Toddlin' Town / Midas, formed by George Leaner's brother Ernie, which survived until 1971.

Two CD's were released in 1998 containing a lot of material recorded for George Leaner's labels. One is One-derful, Mar-v-lus Northern Soul on Goldmine (UK), reflecting the "Northern Soul"styled output of the labels, and the other, Chicago Twine Time, on Charly (now based in Germany), includes about half the output of the Mar-v-lus label.
